Connor Ellis named Republic of Ireland Schools Player of the Year

Coláiste Phobail, Bheanntraí (Bantry Community College) student Connor Ellis was honoured with the prestigious FAI Schools International Player of the Year Award tonight. One of the shining lights in last year’s Centenary Shield campaign, the Cork native saw his side capture the Centenary Shield in fine style. Ellis scored two penalties in their 3-2 victory against Northern Ireland last March. Connor was also in superb form against Scotland in April scoring a vital goal to ensure a 1-1 draw away from home. Ellis is applying his trade with Cork City this season.
Congratulations also to Connor’s team-mates Dan Tobin (Oatlands College, Mount Merrion) and Darragh Markey (Coláiste Phádraig, Lucan CBS) who were nominated for the award.
