Aviva Health FAI Primary School 5’s Leinster Finals RESULTS

Longford, Louth, Kildare & Meath advance to Aviva Stadium

The magnificent MDL Grounds in Navan, Co: Meath played host to the Aviva Health FAI Primary School 5’s Leinster Finals on Thursday last (May 16)

20 Schools from Dublin (5), Wexford (3), Kildare (3), Meath (2), Wicklow (2), Offaly (1), Longford (1), Kilkenny (1), Louth (1), and Carlow (1) participated in the Provincial decider this season:  

The ‘A’ Section for small schools was closely contested with Fermoyle NS advancing to the National Finals: The Longford School had a battle with runners up Scoil Naomh Bride, Backwater in their opening game, just edging it 3/2 to make the best possible start to their campaign: This was followed up by a determined performance against Rathgar’s Zion Parish School (3/1) while their remaining match was an eight goal thriller ending 4/4 against St: Leonard’s:

The ‘B’ Section for medium schools saw Monastery NS, Ardee progress to the next stage with an incredible 3 out of 3 wins in their competitive grouping: A goal tally of 16 was superb as they only conceded on four occasions: This will steer them in good stead when they take to the Aviva on May 25: Gaelscoil an Inbhir Mhoir were gallant runners up with wins over Newbridge Educate Together and Tallaght side St: Dominic’s:

The ‘C’ Section for large schools went to Trim’s St: Michael’s NS: The Meath outfit was consistent throughout the campaign with 3 comprehensive victories in their group: The runners up spot were more difficult to decide as the remaining three schools ended their day on 2 points each: However it was St: Joseph’s Kilcock that got the second place podium finish

Longford’s Stonepark NS claimed the Girls ‘A’ Section following a well polished display throughout their group stages: A full six points was collected with wins over Tallaght’s St: Dominic’s (5/2), Durrow (3/1) and Gaelscoil an Inbhir Mhoir (2/0): Tullamore’s Durrow NS was runners up on four points

Scoil Mochua, Celbridgeadvanced to the National Finals in theGirls ‘B’ Section having secured victories over St: Fiacc’s, St: Francis Xavier and St: Colman’s: The final group game was the decider with runners up St: Colman’s taking an early lead however the Celbridge girls regrouped and equalized shortly after: The winner came minutes from the final whistle to give Scoil Mochua the win:

Thanks to the support of Aviva Health, the competition will reach a sensational conclusion for the Schools involved as the National Finals will take place in the magnificent surrounds of the Aviva Stadium, Dublin on Saturday, May 25: The event will be a family fun day focused on providing participants and spectators alike with huge excitement and entertainment, making it a day to remember for all involved:
