Interprovincial Team 2017 - Nominations & Trials

NB** Important Notice r.e. Leinster Trials


Dear Junior/Senior Team Mentor

Preparations are now underway for next season’s Interprovincial Tournament, to take place in October 2017. The Leinster Squad Management Team of Al Sugg (St. Kilian’s D.S.D., Clonskeagh) & Fintan Sheridan (St. Kevin’s C.C., Clondalkin) have asked me to contact you for the purpose of nominating your best players for trial. Students must be from Transition Year or Fifth Year e.g. either Fifth or Sixth Year students in academic year 2017-18.


Please note the following;

Please nominate suitable players using the survey form detailed below– just click on the link to access the form.


Please only nominate players that you feel would be up to provincial standard – i.e. players with representative or international experience.

       Players must be born on or after 1st January 2000 to be eligible for next season’s competitions.

       Please gather player details, as detailed below, before you complete the survey.

Representative Experience (Umbro Cup, Milk Cup, Development Squad etc.) 

       Players will be contacted directly with regards to trial arrangements. Players will be watched over the summer where possible & trials will take place in September.

       Players will be responsible for their own transport to the trial venue.

       A maximum of three players may be nominated by any one school, but please bear in mind the nominating criteria detailed above.

       If nominating more than one player, you will have to complete the survey for each individual player.


Players will be contacted directly by the Interprovincial Management Team.

The interprovincial tournament is also used to select players for the Irish Schools International Team, which participates in the Centenary Shield competition every season.


Illustrious past players of the Schools International Team include Colin Powell (Longford Town & Portmarnock C.S.), John O’Shea (De La Salle College, Waterford), Kevin Doherty (ex-Liverpool & Shelbourne), Tony Scully (ex-QPR/Crystal Palace), Colin Hawkins (St. Joseph’s College, Galway) & Stephen Ward (Portmarnock C.S.).
