Tipperary Primary Schools Futsal

The Tipperary Primary Schools Futsal blitz took place over 2 days at Colaiste Mhuire Co: Ed in Thurles:

20 teams representing 14 schools took part in an action packed two days of Futsal:

Day 1 saw 9 boys’ teams competing with some excellent fast paced games on view:

Group one saw Gaelscoil Bhride of Thurles, St: Colmcilles from Templemore and Ballyneale NS contesting:

Group 2 consisted of Pouldine NS, Ardfinnan NS and St: Mary’s NS Killenaule:

Group 3 comprised of Fethard NS, Gaelscoil Clonmel and Knockavilla NS:

Each of the group winners progressed on to the semi finals along with the best second placed team:

St: Colmcilles from Templemore came through group 1 with Pouldine NS winning group 2:

Gaelscoil Clonmel progressed from group 3 with Ardfinnan NS grabbing the all important best second placed team:

The semi finals saw St: Colmcilles Templemore facing Ardfinnan NS and Gaelscoil Clonmel drawn against Pouldine NS:

Both semi finals were tight affairs with the two games eventually been decided by a penalty shootout:

Both Gaelscoil Clonmel and St: Colmcilles Templemore won their respective shoot outs:

The final was another keenly contested game and with little or nothing separating both schools it was again down to a penalty shootout with St: Colmcilles Templemore coming through victorious:

Day 2 saw a further 4 boys teams taking part along with 7 girls teams:

Group 1 of the girls saw Lismackin NS, Littleton NS, Ballyneale NS and Bishop Harty NS Ballinree taking part:

Group 2 comprised of Pouldine NS, Cloughjordan NO:1 School and Knockavilla NS:

After a number of very close games it was Lismackin NS and Bishop Harty NS Ballinree who came through with Pouldine NS and Knockavilla progressing from group 2:

The first semi final saw Lismackin NS taking on Knockavilla NS with Lismackin NS winning 2/0:

The second semi final Pouldine NS facing Bishop Harty NS Ballinree:

With the match finishing 1/1, the game had to be decided by penalties with Pouldine NS coming through:

The final between Lismackin NS and Pouldine NS was a great spectacle with Lismackin NS winning 1/0:

The boys’ teams competing on day 2 were Bishop Harty NS Ballinree, Gurtagarry NS, Littleton NS and Cloughjordan No: 1 School:

With all teams playing each other there was a lot of tight games:

After the group stage, the semi final pairings were Gurtagarry NS against Littleton NS and Bishop Harty NS Ballinree playing Cloughjordan No: 1 School:

With Gurtagarry NS and Bishop Harty NS Ballinree winning their respective semi finals it was sure to be a classic game, and that’s what it turned out to be with a single goal separating the teams at the end: Gurtagarry NS winning sensationally 1/0 in a titanic final game of the afternoon

This tournament was a great success and on behalf of the FAI we would like to thank all those schools that competed over the 2 days, to Colaiste Mhuire Co: Ed for again providing their wonderful facility for the event and to all the referres from the school who also assisted over the 2 days: All your help was greatly appreciated:
