The Clare FAI Schools Primary Schools 5-a-side competition took place over two days Wednesday 4 & Thursday 5 May at Lees Road Sports Complex Ennis:

The two days of finals  saw 69  teams from 34 schools participating, as the regular entries were joined by debutants, Doora, Cree, Clouna/Furglan, Inagh and Clooney for this year’s competitions:

The medium schools boys and girls competitions took place on Wednesday  with 10  boys teams and 9 girls teams participating on the day:

The medium boys section was won by an impressive Knockanean NS  who defeated Newmarket on Fergus in the Final:

Holy Family Ennis NS captured the girls section  when they emerged ahead of Sixmilebridge and St Conaires   in the Final Group:

St Conaires  NS  Shannon retained their title in the large schools section and will represent Clare in the Munster  Finals:

Thursday saw the hosting of the   small schools section for boys and girls that saw  with 28 boys  teams and 18 girls teams participating:

The final of the Boys Section saw debutants Doora NS  impress with a victory over a gallant Kilmaley NS, who were runners up for the second year running:

The real excitement was left for  the small schools girls final as Kilmaley went up against last year’s Munster Champions Newmarket on Fergus:  Newmarket on Fergus eventually won the game 2 – 1 thanks to a golden goal and so return to the Munster Finals stage for the second year in a row:

Denis Hynes FAI Development Officer for Clare thanked all schools for taking part over the 2 days and wished the winning teams the best of luck in the Munster Finals which take place at College Corinthians FC in Cork on Wednesday, May 11

Denis also thanked Lees Road Sports Complex  for the preparation of grounds and use of the facilities, Paul Bennett and the the 'students from the Sport & Recreation Course BTEI Clare VEC'
for providing  referees and Chris Byrne for his assistance in supervising and coordinating competitions over the two days:
