On Monday the 16th of November, the County Waterford 1st Year Futsal Finals took place in the Sports Hall at St: Pauls Community College:
6 teams took part in the event; St: Paul’s A, St: Paul’s B, Mount Sion, Abbey CC, Tramore CBS, De La Salle:
All teams played in a round robin series with the top two teams qualifying for the Final:
De La Salle looked to have everything in control as they won every game topping the table:
St Paul’s edged out close contenders Tramore CBS for the second spot:
The Final was a highly entertaining, very fast free flowing game with end to end action:
De La Salle came very close to winning it with a Luke Power thunderbolt striking the bar: However, St: Paul’s defended like tigers and kept De La Salle at bay:
With only three minutes to go St: Paul’s struck a long ball from Aaron Coad and his shot was misjudged by the De La Salle back line and the ball sailed into the back of the net:
De La Salle threw everything at St: Paul’s in the remaining minutes but they could not get the all important equaliser:
St: Paul’s CC now qualify for the Munster Final in January:
