Loreto's Cup Glory - Ulster Girls Senior FINAL

Loreto Secondary School in Letterkenny reclaimed their UMBRO FAI Schools Senior Girls Ulster title with an assured 7/2 win over Carndonagh Secondary School in Cockhill on Tuesday (February 1)

The Letterkenny school were deserving winners in the end with Geraldine McLaughlin bagging four goals and Lauren Harper getting a hat/trick to overcome the Inishowen opposition 7/2:

McLaughlin opened the scoring after three minutes before turning provider to set up Harper for her first goal: The pair combined again to get Loreto’s third and Harper’s second in the 15th minute:

Loreto’s Ciara Grant had two long range efforts saved by Eimear Lafferty in the Carndonagh goal but Loreto got a fourth when McLaughlin rifled home after Harper set her up:

Grant hit the bar with another shot before the break but the Letterkenny side started the second half with a four/goal cushion:

McLaughlin added another goal 10 minutes after the restart and Grant set Harper up for her hat/trick three minutes later:

McLaughlin got Loreto’s seventh on 64 minutes: Carndonagh responded with two consolation goals from Colleen Kearney and Aisling McCallion but it was too little too late and Loreto achieved a second successive provincial victory:
