Aviva Health FAI Primary School 5’s Inishowen Finals

 

 

Trawbreaga Park, RASHENNY was the venue for the Aviva Health FAI Primary School 5’s Inishowen Finals on Saturday last (May 4)

Cloontagh, Illies and Gaelscoil contested the ‘A’ Section for small schools in the day’s opening events: The victors were Cloontagh NS following a close encounter:  They began with a share of the points against keen rivals Illies and when Illies then drew with the Gaelscoil in the next match Cloontagh knew that a victory would see them through: As it turned out they secured a comfortable 4/0 win to lift the title

Six teams made the cut for the Girls ‘A’ Section and these schools were divided into two groups of three: Each group winner then met in the Final: In the first group Rashenny, Greencastle and Malin met with the host team going through after two well/earned victories:   In the second group Moville, Cloontagh and Culdaff battled it out: In the opening two games Moville accounted for Cloontagh as did Culdaff and then, in the final and deciding game, Moville won comfortably against Culdaff:  The final play/off game sawRashenny comprehensively defeat Moville to ensure their participation in the Ulster Finals:

Buncrana’s Scoil Iosagainqualified automatically for the Provincial decider in the ‘C’ Section for large schools: The boys in Scoil Iosagain have a phenomenal record in the Primary School 5’s: They have won Ulster titles in the ‘C’ Section category since 2007 with the exception of 2010:

The girl’s team started the success story with the Buncrana School when they captured the Provincial honours as far back as 2006 in the Girls ‘B’ Section and came third in the All Ireland Finals that same year: The School will be hot favourites going into the Provincial showdown

In the Girls ‘B’ Section, Whitecastle NS defeated Scoil Iosagain in a wonderful game:

The ‘B’ Section qualifiers have yet to be identified following a rescheduling of fixtures on Saturday evening:

The Inishowen Primary Schools League paid tribute to Rashenny FC for the use of their excellent facilities:
