Colaiste Choilm, Ballincollig 4 – 0 St: Mary’s College, Galway

The picturesque Corbally United Park was the venue for the Umbro 1st Year Boys All Ireland Semi Final on Monday afternoon:

This was the fourth All Ireland Semi Final for St: Mary’s this season and they were hoping they could do one better in reaching an All Ireland Final: Only Colaiste Choilm stood in their way to capturing another piece of silverware to add to their four Connacht titles:

Munster Champions, Colaiste Choilm had the experienced Brian O’Donovan, Morgan O’Mahony and Carl Tiofac in the panel for this crunch encounter: The trio will star for their club Ballincollig in the U14 Goodson Cup against Crumlin United on Saturday next at Home Farm Everton:

The Cork school got the perfect start to the game from the kick off as Kieran Murray’s exceptional pass found Daniel O’Sullivan in space: He sidestepped two defenders to round the keeper after just two minutes played:

St: Mary’s were under severe pressure early on and found it difficult to control the defensive backline: This was evident when Daniel O’Sullivan added his second on eight minutes when he powered the ball to the top right hand corner from close range:

It was one way traffic and St: Mary’s had no reply as half time beckoned:

Just after the break Ballincollig scored their third courtesy of Ciaran Murray: He was first to react as he connected with a superbly taken corner to head into the top left leaving Daniel McArdle with no chance:

Conor Egan made an instant impact on proceedings when he was introduced in the 55th minute: Darragh Lucy’s excellent set piece found Egan who fired home from inside the six yard box:

Colaiste Choilm will await the winners of the other semi final which will be played on Thursday, 15 May as Carndonagh Community School face St: Joseph’s CBS Fairview in Skreen, Sligo for a place in the All Ireland Final:
