MULROY COLLEGE saw off the Leinster kingpins East Glendalough School to advance to their third consecutive Bank of Ireland FAI Schools Senior ‘B’ Girls National Cup Final yesterday in Monaghan United FC, Gortakeegan.

Milford’s Caoimhe Walsh opened the scoring mid-way through the first half with a sweet long range effort which eluded goalkeeper Lily Johnson. Mulroy’s lead was doubled just before the interval as the industrious Nicola Devenney got on the scoresheet.

The Leinster ladies regrouped at half time and mentor John McGettigan who hails from Milford, relayed some words of wisdom at the interval. EGS made a promising start but the talented Zoe Green nicked a third for the Ulster starlets on 47 minutes to all but seal their advancement in the competition.

Glendalough’s heroic endeavours were rewarded on the hour mark when Hannah Rose Buckley slotted the ball past Friel following a well executed set piece. However Maria Ryan Carr’s crew defended well in the last quarter to ensure their passage into the All Ireland series yet again.

Mulroy College eagerly await the outcome of the other semi final scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday) in Tulla United. St. Peter’s CS, Passage West who are reigning National Champions will take on newcomers St. Joseph’s SS, Foxford for a place in the Cup Final scheduled for Wednesday, February 3.
