Sacred Heart School, Westport 3 – 2 Alexandra College, Dublin
An exciting game saw Sacred Heart Westport overcome a strong Alexandra College side despite a late rally from Alex.
Westport took the lead against the run of play when Tully fired a snapshot to the net midway through the first half. An equaliser early in the second half set the scene for a pulsating second half with both sides playing excellent attacking football.
Westport regained the lead with 15 minutes remaining when Kilkelly chipped the Alexandra keeper and the game seemed over when Tully scored her second with seven minutes left.
Alexandra College fought on, however, and Deirdre Duke scored their second goal late in the game to set up a thrilling finale.
Westport held on for a deserved victory and Captain Maria Harrington accepted the trophy as the large Westport contingent celebrated.
