McColgan hat-trick helps Crana College advance

CRANA COLLEGE cruised past Leinster Champions Gaelcholaiste Cheatharlach in Cootehill Harps FC, Cavan yesterday afternoon (Thursday, September 14).
Carly McCOLGAN proved to be instrumental in her teams success as she netted a hat-trick for the Ulster starlets.
The opening goal came courtesy of Ailbhe DEENEY on six minutes when she slotted in at the near post.
Carly McCOLGAN netted her first and Buncrana’s second with 22 minutes on the clock as Michelle McDaid’s side went into the break with a two goal cushion.
Pheobe BLAKEBOROUGH was on hand to add to their goal tally seven minutes into the restart as she forced the ball home at the far post.
McCOLGAN grabbed her second goal and Buncrana’s fourth from the penalty spot on 38 minutes.
The fifth goal came six minutes later as Carly McCOLGAN completed her hat-trick. A Katie McCabe special as the ball rifled in over the keeper’s head, direct from her corner kick.
Unfortunately the Carlow side were unlucky not to score late on as Mia Ni Fearaíl and Caitlin Nic Eoghain tested Chloe Grant but the young keeper managed to keep a clean sheet.
The Buncrana scholars will now meet St. Joseph’s Secondary School, Foxford in this year’s decider. The Mayo side sealed the Senior ‘B’ title earlier this year as they look to add to their trophy collection.
The National Cup Final is down for decision on Wednesday, September 27 (1.0) in Ray MacSharry Park, Sligo (1.0)
